In 1993, the National Institutes of Health Revitalization Act was passed, requiring women and minorities to be included in clinical trials. Since then, many studies have shown that men and women with the same disease can display different symptoms and have different responses to therapies. Cure Alzheimer’s Fund’s Research Consortium recognizes this, and understands that the investigation of these differences needs to begin earlier than at the trial stage; we have funded several projects to understand sex-based differences in Alzheimer’s disease.
