Symptoms of Early Onset Alzheimer’s disease are consistent with those who are afflicted by the disease later in life.

Early Onset Alzheimer’s disease currently afflicts between 250,000 and 300,000 people in the United States.

Of those afflicted, slightly more than 10% develop the disease through genetic predisposition, due to the mutation of one of three genes. These genes are known as:

—Amyloid beta precursor protein (APP)
—Presenilin 1 (PSEN 1)
—Presenilin 2 (PSEN2)

Symptoms of Early Onset Alzheimer’s disease are consistent with those who are afflicted by the disease later in life; however, many with Early Onset may be required to discontinue working, which, due to their younger age, can have a devastating impact on short- and long-term financial affairs.
