Running 4 Answers, A Race Against Alzheimer’s is a 5k race (USATF-sanctioned) and a 2-mile fun run located in Roseland, NJ.
“This event came to be because my mom had early-onset Alzheimer’s. As a runner, I look for races supporting causes I believe in. I first looked for a local race benefiting Alzheimer’s, then extended my search further to surrounding states. I was still unable to find one benefitting the research of the horrible disease. Instead of waiting, “R4A” was created. While this event isn’t in honor of my mom, it exists because of her.
I have worked to host an event with three goals:
1) To increase awareness of and money for Alzheimer’s disease.
2) To manage a great race.
3) To create a fun community event.
Over our first 14 years, we have donated $490,000 to Cure Alzheimer’s Fund. We chose this organization because it is solely focused on research and because every dollar donated goes toward that research.
I am proud of the work we have done so far, but I can’t wait for our 15th event, where we will exceed $500,000.”
