On November 5, 2023, Kim Chan ran the New York City (NYC) marathon and raised $1,500 for Cure Alzheimer’s Fund. She has been running races and raising money for Cure Alzheimer’s Fund for the past ten years, and this year, she set an ambitious goal to run the world’s six major marathons and after crossing Tokyo off her list in March and NYC in November, she only has the London marathon left to complete her goal.

Running races and raising money for Alzheimer’s research is personal for Kim and her family. She runs in honor of her grandfather, whose life was impacted by the effects of Alzheimer’s disease.

What began in Huntington Beach, CA, has spanned multiple countries and even inspired her son Ethan to run the Long Beach marathon in 2014 with his mom. Ethan came in third in his age group and raised over $1,000 for Cure Alzheimer’s Fund.

A heartfelt thank you to Kim for a decade of tireless dedication. Her ongoing efforts serve as an inspiring reminder that each stride taken in the fight against Alzheimer’s brings us closer to a future free from its devastating effects.

“The disease affects so many people’s lives,” she says, “So I ran to find a cure. Hopefully, I’ll be able to keep it up for many years.” Kim Chan
