Assistant Professor, Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine, Wake Forest School of Medicine
Miranda Orr’s passion for finding a cure for Alzheimer’s disease was motivated by her grandmother, who passed away from the disease the year Dr. Orr graduated from college. Since then, her lab has devoted its research to the molecular mechanisms of Alzheimer’s disease and the effects of tau accumulation on cellular senescence and risk for chronic neurodegenerative diseases.
“I strive to improve the quality of life of all older adults by finding effective strategies that delay, prevent or treat Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. While ‘cures’ are not discovered on a daily basis in the lab, we do make progress toward this goal.”
